Facial acupuncture (otherwise known as cosmetic acupuncture) has a wide range of health benefits such as; healing acne, reducing fine lines, reducing tension in the facial muscles, boosting circulation and lymphatic system and more.

Facial Acupuncture is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) technique that has been practiced for thousands of years. Small, fine needles are gently placed on the acupuncture points of the face, head and neck to stimulate Qi and relieve pain and tension.

How long does Facial Acupuncture last?

The results vary from person to person but it is advised to have an initial course of 10 treatments every two weeks and then have follow up sessions every 1-3 months.

Is Facial Acupuncture Better Than Botox?

Facial acupuncture and Botox are completely different things and shouldn’t be compared. But facial acupuncture is an option for those who are wanting to stay away from using Botox as a natural way of keeping the face relaxed and energised. Botox paralysis the muscles it is injected in to, facial acupuncture relaxes areas of tension but does not paralyse the muscles. You cannot have facial acupuncture until 6 months has passed since your last Botox session.

Does Facial Acupuncture actually work?

The needles inserted into the face cause your body to produce small amounts of endorphins which as you bodies natural pain relievers and feel good hormone, this also helps to relax the contracted or tense muscles, and stimulates to blood to the area.

What Does Facial Acupuncture Feel Like?

You can hardly feel the needles at all and most people find it very relaxing and feel in somewhat of a trance on leaving the session. Facial Acupuncture makes you feel calm but not drowsy, people often report feeling less anxious or stressed and sleep better for the first few nights after their treatment.

What Do The Facial Acupuncture Sessions Involve?

Firstly a thorough health assessment is completed and then the treatment is explained and tailored to the clients individual needs. The skin needs to be clean prior to inserting the needles so please come with a make-up free face. There are two types of needles used: traditional acupuncture needles for the face which are inserted into the acupuncture points and intradermal needles which are smaller needles which go into the fine lines of the face. The needles are then left in for 15 to 20 minutes. They are then removes and facial cupping, Gua Sha and face and head massage are performed on the client. The client then has a few minutes to relax before the treatment is complete.
