Facial Acupuncture VS Botox
This post is here to explain the similarities and differences between Facial Acupuncture and Botox treatments. Many people believe that Facial Acupuncture is a natural alternative to Botox injections or even cosmetic fillers but Facial Acupuncture is in fact very different from Botox but some of the result may be similar.
We all know Botox and cosmetic fillers have become increasingly popular in recent years, however many people want to avoid using Botox and fillers and are looking for a more natural way of looking after their face.
What Is The Difference Between Facial Acupuncture And Botox?
Facial Acupuncture is a non-invasive procedure that uses the same principles as traditional Acupuncture. The practitioner inserts very fine needles into your skin at specific points on your face, some in Acupuncture points and some in areas of tension or fine lines. Facial Acupuncture has been shown to improve fine wrinkles and increase moisture in the skin. Facial Acupuncture is a small but growing trend in the world of natural beauty. It's been around for thousands of years, but only recently has it become popular in the West. While Facial Acupuncture is often confused with Botox, there are some important differences between the two.
Botox is a neurotoxin that's injected into the facial muscles to temporarily paralyze them and reduce moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows. Botox doesn't permanently change your facial expression, but it can help you look more relaxed and youthful for up to 10 months. Botox can also help prevent wrinkles from forming over time by relaxing facial muscles that cause movement and expression lines. The toxin blocks nerve impulses to these muscles so they don't move as much when you make facial expressions.
Facial Acupuncture differs from Botox because it doesn't require injections into your skin or paralysis of your facial muscles. Instead, needles are inserted into specific points on your face that are believed to help stimulate tissue growth and repair damaged areas of the body. Facial Acupuncture uses tiny needles to stimulate specific points on your face that correspond with different organs and systems in your body. Acupuncture practitioners believe that stimulating these points can improve overall health and well-being by balancing energy flow through certain meridians (or pathways) in the body.
What Does The Research Say?
There aren't many studies that compare the effectiveness between Botox and Facial Acupuncture, but one study from 2007 found that both treatments improved wrinkles equally after nine months of treatment.
What Is Facial Acupuncture?
Facial Acupuncture is a non-invasive, chemical-free, natural treatment that helps to rejuvenate the skin, diminish fine lines and wrinkles, and reduce puffiness around the eyes. It can help with many common dermatological conditions such as Acne, Rosacea, Eczema and Psoriasis. The basic principle of Facial Acupuncture is that by needling certain points on the face, we can stimulate the body's natural healing response, which releases endorphins that reduce pain and inflammation.
What Is Botox?
Botox is made of botulinum toxin type A, which is derived from bacteria that produce toxins that cause food poisoning. The toxin is injected into facial muscles to temporarily paralyze them. This causes facial muscles to relax and prevents wrinkles or furrows from forming on the face for several months.
Facial Acupuncture Benefits Over Botox:
No side effects - Facial Acupuncture does not cause any side effects or allergic reactions. In fact, there are no lasting effects from Facial Acupuncture at all. The needles are removed after 20 minutes and there is no discomfort during treatment.
Gentle - Facial Acupuncture does not require any anaesthetic or numbing cream as it is done using very fine needles which do not penetrate deep into the skin. This means that there is very little pain involved in treatment which makes it ideal for people who are nervous about needles or have sensitive skin.
Safe - Facial Acupuncture uses very small needles so there is little risk of infection or scarring unlike cosmetic procedures such as Botox which require injections into muscle with larger needles resulting in bruising and swelling post-treatment.
Facial Acupuncture vs Botox: Which is better?
Both treatments have their pros and cons, it really depends on the results you are looking for and your views on using a neuro-toxin in your body. To ensure the best results, I recommend a 3-month gap between any recent Botox or filler treatments and cosmetic acupuncture. This waiting period allows each treatment to work optimally without unintended interference.
